World’s first ever ‘Scratch Car-d’: Scratch the car to see if you won

When:12 June 2007 09:30-12:00

Where: Covent Garden Piazza, London

Thousands of people lined up, grabbed a penny and scratched away on the world’s first ever ‘Scratch Car-d’. A part of a creative advertising stunt by Chevrolet to promote their new Captiva in the UK, the unique SUV took two months to prepare and was covered in silver latex, the material found on lottery scratch cards.
The material took 14 hours to scratch off, revealing thousands of panels with one showing a symbol to win the vehicle. The Chevrolet Captiva ‘Scratch Car-d’ was on display in London’s Covent Garden with 16,995 pennies for people to use to scratch all over the car.
Let’s just hope that the winner doesn’t receive the scratched up Chevrolet Captiva used in the contest.
