A motorist, driving by a Texas ranch, hit and killed a calf that was crossing the road. The driver went to the owner of the calf and explained what had happened. He then asked what the animal was worth. "Oh, about $200 today," said the rancher. "But in six years it would have been worth $900. So $900 is what I'm out." The motorist sat down and wrote out a check and handed it to the farmer. "Here," he said, "is the check for $900. It's postdated six years from now."

Santiago Calatrava-Turning Torso ( Malmö, Sweden)

Designed for a prominent urban site on the occasion of the European Housing Expo 2001, Calatrava's residential tower for Malmö, at the city's West Harbor, is based in form on his sculpture Turning Torso.

The 190 meter tall concrete and steel tower turns 90 degrees from bottom to top.

In the original sculpture of Turning Torso, seven cubes are set around a steel support to produce a spiral structure, which resembles a twisting human spine.

Most Dangerous Road in the World - Yungas Road, Bolivia

The Yungas road was built by prisoners during Bolivia's 1932-35 war with Paraguay.

"A spectacular 38-mile ride, descending more than 11,800ft from the Andean mountains into the Amazonian jungle"

You drive on the right in Bolivia - except on the Yungas road. Here, when vehicles pass, drivers hang out of their cabs to edge closer to the cliff, or closer to the abyss. Before setting out, they pour libations of beer onto the ground to pacify Pachamama, the earth deity, and feed the stray dogs, supposedly the souls of dead drivers petitioning for safe passage. Their petitions are not always heard.
